Neil

Neil

Having started Sail Cayman over 30 years ago now I’ve seen it all. I’m originally from Ireland but moved here in the late 70s as a windsurfing instructor. Following that I went off and got my RYA yachtmaster, deciding to start my own charter company which was originally called Red Baron Charters - as my long time friends and clients will know! Fast forward to today and we are now known as Sail Cayman, with an excellent group of people helping run the show! Those who have been out with myself before know I love what I do, and who wouldn’t! Making memories and having a great time out on the water is what it’s all about and meeting a whole heap of great people along the way. Who knows, perhaps the luck of the Irish will rub off on you on your next trip out with us!

Having been born and raised here in Cayman and having Neil as a dad, I definitely spent a lot of time on the water. Fishing, Sailing, diving and kitesurfing have played a major role in my life and I’m very grateful to have had the opportunities to do the things I love so close to home. I started working charters at the age of 12 with my dad which as you might expect had its moments… But hey who said it would be easy! With the experience I’ve gained throughout my years, I have the knowledge and skills along with the rest of our crew to ensure you have the best time with us.

I spent the earlier years of my life over in the Middle East where my parents had me working weekends at a Marina. This is where I fell in love with the water having started to work charters at a young age fishing. I moved to Cayman with my family after 9 years there and decided to call this place home. I obtained my yachtmaster certificates a few years back and have been with Sail Cayman since loving every moment (aside from the polishing). My experience along with a few bad jokes along the way will ensure you have a memorable day out there on the water with us.

I was born and raised in Cayman but went away to the UK for school and University. There I studied geography with a focus in tourism and environmental management. I’ve channeled these interests into learning all I can about this beautiful island and how to preserve it for future generations. I’ve always had an affinity for the sea through free-diving, fishing and shell collecting. My grandfather sailed to the Caribbean in 1956, before the days of gps and autopilot, so you could say sailings in my blood!

Cayman is my home and having grown up here have had countless hours on the water fishing, running charters and free-diving. Learning from the best of local fishermen that Cayman has to offer has given me much knowledge and wisdom for Cayman’s local wildlife and fishing culture. I’ve participated in many local and international fishing tournaments and Obtained my Captain’s licenses at a young age, which has allowed me to ensure your safety and best chances at a fish of a lifetime! Here at Sail Cayman it is our goal for our guests to kick up their heels and ‘don’t worry bout a ting’ while myself and our crew take care of you. Whether it be deep sea fishing or chilling with the rays on the sandbar I’ll be sure to show you and your crew a good time.

I was born here in Cayman and ventured away for University before returning back to do what I love. The sea has always had a calling for me, through fishing, diving, wakeboarding, sailing and not to mention the odd cheeky beer on the sandbar. I've worked charters for a few years now covering everything from stingrays to bioluminescence. Whatever your trip with us may be, I’ll be sure to give you those lasting memories with the family, along with some local knowledge to make your trip unforgettable.
